Why does algae and mold prosper in Florida?

A week or so ago we got a call from a repeat customer. He stated  “We just got our home washed 6 months or so ago with you guys and areas are already turning green again we need to get you on a bi-yearly cleaning schedule.”  Absolutely!  Today were going to dive into why this happens and what you can do to keep your property mold and algae free.

Florida is a beautiful place to live or snowbird to, arguably the most beautiful. With this amazing, year round, weather comes humidity. Especially in the summer. Paired with humidity this could go without saying… COMES HEAT! Florida summers are  HOT!  So we have moisture (humidity), heat so far. This is already a perfect habitat for mold and mildew to set up shop and take root. But lets also add in shade. If you notice 10 out of 10 times the North facing parts of your home will be the first to turn colors they shouldn’t. With the earth spinning towards the east, the sun comes up in the east and set in the west. In turn this leaves your north facing walls, soffits, facias, driveway and roof all in a prime location to grow mold and algae at an alarming rate. Same situation if you have large trees overhanging your home or pool enclosure. So now you know what causes this phenomena.
